In the Danish tradition, the sense of coziness is referred to as hygge (pronounced hoo-guh). Embracing hygge, we gravitate to those things or people that warm and nurture us, especially in the winter. Whether it’s hot chocolate with friends, thick wool socks, or a room full of candles, hygge comforts us during the cold, dark season. But it’s more than just the infusion of warmth. It makes us notice the details – the softness of a favorite sweater, the smell of freshly-brewed coffee, the crackle of logs in a fireplace. Our senses key in to those simple experiences, quieting the mind’s chatter and bringing us into the present moment. This workshop is one part information, one part relaxation and one part inspiration for the creation of your own hygge rituals. Hyggelige refreshments and craft materials are included. Wear comfortable clothing.
